Another set of 14 northern youths intercepted in Osun

A bus conveying 14 youths from the north and heading to Osogbo, Osun State Capital, has been intercepted at Asejire, a town at the Osun, Oyo states boundary.

The vehicle transporting the youths was reportedly intercepted by operatives of Amotekun corps on Friday.

An eyewitness, who pleaded not to be named, said when the driver was stopped at the security checkpoint, he told operatives he was conveying food items to Osogbo, Osun State capital.

He said, “When asked what was in the trunk, the driver could not offer any serious explanation and he was even reluctant to open it. At that point, the men of Amotekun corps opened the trunk and there they found 14 youths from the north inside.

“After asking them few questions and they could not offer good explanation about their mission, the vehicle was sent back to where it was coming from. The vehicle was sent back since there is still a ban on interstate travel to prevent spread of the dreaded coronavirus.”

When contacted for reaction, Director General of Amotekun Corps in Osun, Mr Amitolu Shittu, confirmed the incident.

Shittu warned those disobeying order banning interstate travels not to enter the state, saying anyone caught would be made to face full wrath of the law.
