Barcelona have confirmed that defender, Samuel Umtiti, has suffered a left knee injury ahead of their away La Liga clash with Villarreal on Sunday night.
Umtiti will now undergo conservative treatment and will miss Barcelona’s clash against the Yellow Submarine at the El Madrigal Stadium.
Barcelona stated this in a statement via its official website on Friday.
The statement read: “Samuel Umtiti has a problem with his left knee and will undergo conservative treatment.
“The first team player is not available, and his recovery will dictate when he can return.”
Umtiti, who did not feature in Barcelona’s 2-2 draw against Atletico Madrid on Tuesday, has made 18 appearances in all competition for the Catalan club so far this season.
His last appearance for Quique Setien’s men was against Celta Vigo in Balaídos.
