COVID -19: Katsina To Begin Online Classes For Students


The Katsina state government, has said that plans are on ground for the state to commence online learning to cover the missing period students lost as a result 
COVID-19 pandemic.

The state Executive Director, SUBEB, Alhaji Lawal Buhari Daura, stated this in an exclusive interview with newsmen in his office, said should the pandemic continue, government would introduce online learning for students staying at home.

He said, ” we have called teachers to resume work last Monday as you can see people are doing their normal work, observing the guidelines. we now picked some them in the radio and TV series learning we have introduced and the online learning would also commence soon if the virus continue to spreading.

He explained, that the state government is sponsoring the radio and TV learn ing in collaboration with UNICEF, adding that teachers picked for the exercise are to deliver lessons on 3 subjects; mathematics, English language and literal study for the period of 3 months.

The chairman further added that the decision was reached with both the School Board Management Committee (SBMC) and Parents Teachers Association (PTA) for the commencement of the program.

He then called on parents to allow their children to listen to the lessons on radio and TV or assign somebody to monitor the programs along side the children.
