From:
PUBLIC RELATIONS UNIT, NATIONAL EXECUTIVE COUNCIL (NEC),
FEDERAL POLYTECHNIC EDE ALUMNI ASSOCIATION
Dated: 28TH SEPTEMBER, 2020
FPE ALUMNI ORGANISES PEACE MEETING TO SETTLE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE SCHOOL MANAGEMENT AND THE VARIOUS UNIONS ON CAMPUS
Protocols duly observe as I salute all our members all around the globe. It is my pleasure to report today the development with respect to above stated subject.
Immediately the attention of the NEC was called to the crisis, we swung into actions. Preliminary findings were carried out and that resulted into inviting players for a peace talk. These players include but not limited to the school management as headed by the Rector, the Polytechnic Unions, representatives of the host community (Ede Descendants and FEYDA), the religious leaders, etc
The peace meeting which had in attendance two (2) members of the BOT and the NEC members was held at the Conference Hall in the Administrative Building of the Polytechnic on Saturday 26th September, 2020 with every invited bodies/individuals present except The Rector who sent his representatives and the SSANIP who declined the invitation.
The gathering which lasted well over four hours was able to reveal many pertinent issues and ways forward were proposed.
Explanations/clarifications were given on contending issues like alleged misappropriation of funds, staff victimization, academic related issues, etc. Emotions rose, purgation was done all in true bid to get a peaceful resolution.
After all these were done, warring parties were unanimous in ensuring that all matters be resolved fairly and rightly. As the meeting closed the following are some of the resolutions reached
👉All efforts be made to resolve lingering crisis internally
👉 Granting press statements that could incite anyone further should be stopped;
👉The Alumni NEC and the BOT should make further efforts to meet the SSANIP and The Rector;
👉The host community continues to partner other relevant bodies or individuals in ensuring peaceful coexistence
👉 Any form of harassment, humiliation, threat, and or intimidation of anyone should be stopped or desist from immediately
In view of the above and in a bid to completely settle the crisis, the Alumni NEC and the BOT as the representatives of the entire Alumni Association members will continue to do all it can to bring peace and sustain that peace without compromising the standard and quality of education in the school.
A comprehensive report and communique will be released after all that needed to be done has been achieved in not too distant future.
