How I keyed into positive part of COVID-19 –Zlatan’s manager, Mansa Jabulani

While many creatives may be groaning under the weight of the COVID-19 pandemic which had thrown the world into chaos and uncertainty, Zanku Records boss, Damilola Alonge popularly known as Mansa Jabulani says God designed the coronavirus for him.

Jabulani told Saturday Beats that “I have to be thankful because the present challenge (COVID-19) facing the world has not really affected my work adversely. Instead, it has been a blessing to my music career. God designed COVID 19 for me. I glued to the positive part of the pandemic. I have been working for 10 years, only for God to answer my prayer during the COVID period. I can’t say about others in the industry but all I know is some people’s careers aren’t moving as they are supposed to be. My major fear is that some artistes would have to start all over again after the pandemic. There are always good and bad sides to every misfortune.

The song that went viral titled ‘Of La La’ by Rahman Jago featuring Zlatan and Jamo Piper, was released at the height of the coronavirus pandemic. Funnily enough, when I was making the beat, I saved the file as ‘coronavirus’. Today, the rest is history.”

Jabulani also maintained that he was not bothered that music producers didn’t get the publicity or popularity that artistes got for their works.

He said, “When you talk about publicity, it depends on individual perspectives. As for me, I prefer my works to be everywhere, rather than my face. But if you talk about getting credit, we don’t get the credit we deserve because behind every successful artiste, there’s a music producer working behind the scenes.

“I would definitely not be happy if a song I produced gets an award and I’m not recognised. However, the fact that my craft paved the way (for the artiste) gives me inner joy.
