The Federal Government of Nigeria, led by President Muhamadu Buhari has given a two-week ultimatum for the registration and linking of National Identity Number (NIN) to mobile phone numbers, irrespective of massive outcry from the public.
The director-general of NIMC (National Identity Management Commission), Mr. Aliyu Abubakar has disclosed in an interview that there would be no extension to the deadline.
How To Link NIN To MTN Number
To link your National Identification Number (NIN) with your SIM registration data, please submit your NIN and phone number below.
Note that NINs submitted here will be received as unverified, pending validation against the NIMC database. This means you may be required to re-validate this information in person, in the future. Thank you!
1. Visit www.mtnonline.com/nim/otp A notice stating that “This is solely for the purpose of collating NIN pending when verification of the submitted NIN is completed through NCC/NIMC”
2. Nevertheless, proceed to fill the form, requesting your names, phone number, NIN, and email address.
3. After submission, an OTP will be sent to your phone to complete the process.
To link your your NIN with your MTN SIM using USSD, follow the steps below:
- Dial *785# using the MTN you wish to perform the linking on.
- Type 1 for “Enter your 11-digit NIN” and send.
- Enter your 11-digit NIN and send.
Wait for the network to give a confirmation of your submission. You may get a message saying “Network error.”
How To Link NIN To Airtel Mobile Numbers
To link your NIN to your Airtel phone number, follow the steps below:
- Dial *121# on the Airtel line you wish to link.
- Type 1 for “NIN Capture” and send
- Enter your 11-digit NIN and send.
Wait for the message confirming your submission. If you get an error, just wait for some time and try again.
How to Link NIN To Glo Numbers
Glo have just updated its customers on linking their mobile numbers to NIN: The message rea as follow – Dear customer, as per NCC guidelines, NIN is mandatory to keep your Glo line active. Type UPDATENIN and then NIN first name followed by last name and send to 109.
