Italian legend, Paolo Rossi, is dead. He died at the age of 64.
Rossi, who led Italy to glory at the 1982 World Cup, passed away on Wednesday night.
The forward won the Golden Ball at the 1982 World Cup and won the Ballon d’Or in the same year.
Rossi, widely regarded as one of the best footballers Italy has ever seen, scored a total of nine goals in World Cup finals tournaments, the joint-most of any player in the country’s history.
Rossi, a former Juventus and AC Milan star, won two Serie A titles in his career, which he spent entirely in Italy.
Reacting to his death, Italian football transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, wrote on Twitter: “Another terrible news. Italian legend Paolo Rossi – World Cup winner in 1982 – has passed away at 64 years old. RIP.”
