The former Kano State Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Mu’azu Magaji, sacked by Governor Abdullahi Ganduje for indecent comments over the death of Abba Kyari, the chief of staff to the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari, has contracted COVID-19.
Magaji personally made the disclosure on Thursday morning, via a post on his official Facebook account.
According to the post, the pending result of COVID-19 test carried out by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control came back positive.
The former commissioner’s personal assistant, Ibrahim Dawakin Tofa, who also confirmed the development to our correspondent in Kano, said, ‘’The former Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure had earlier proceeded to self-isolation, while awaiting the result of the test.
He disclosed that Mu’azu had been moved to Kwanan Dawaki Isolation centre, noting that he was currently in a stable condition.
Meanwhile, the Kano State Ministry of Health has announced 30 new cases of COVID-19 in the state, bringing the total number of COVID-19 infection in Kano State to 427.
The ministry made the disclosure in a tweet on Thursday morning (12:02am), adding that the state also recorded five additional deaths, bringing the death toll to 13.
Similarly, the tweet noted that three more patients had been discharged, just as the number of fully recovered patients in the state now stands at six.
In a similar development, the National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives, through its Chairperson, Comrade Ibrahim Markafi Mohammed, has disclosed that 18 nurses have tested positive for the coronavirus disease in Kano.
Mohammed said 86 samples of nurses were taken for test, at the end of which 18 of them tested positive.
