Education

Fagbemi began his career after he was called to the Nigerian bar, as counsel in the law firm of Afe Babalola & Co before founding his own law firm, Lateef Fagbemi & Co.
Career
After completing his education, Lateef started working as a lawyer at the firm of Gani Fawehinmi & Co. He immediately established his own law firm, Lateef Fagbemi & Co., and became well-known in Nigeria’s legal community. Lateef has taken part in a number of well-known cases, including petitions for elections and constitutional disputes. In Nigerian courts including the Federal High Court and the Court of Appeal, he has also served as a judge. In addition to practising law, Lateef has made contributions to legal education in Nigeria. He is considered an authority in Nigerian law and has written numerous essays on a variety of legal topics.

For his contributions to the Nigerian legal community, Fagbemi has received a number of awards and recognition. He received Nigeria’s highest legal title, Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), in 2015.
