On Thursday, July 23, Baba Pool, a lottery shop operator reportedly committed suicide in his shop in Kayode Market, Abule Ijesha because of his ”inability to pay the winnings of his customers.”
He hanged himself inside his shop leaving a suicide note which reads;
“For your information, Bourney and Osuma. Two of them kill me. A killer must surely die.”
Traders in the market revealed that the two people Baba Pool mentioned in the suicide note had played lottery sometime ago and won. However, when they came to take their money from winning the game, the deceased couldn’t explain to them that he didn’t submit their tickets but rather decided to commit suicide.
Bala Elkana, state police spokesperson affirmed the incident saying the two accused persons are in their custody facing investigation.
