The Chairman, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa has fought off reports tagging her to a tweet about the release of 300 Katsina schoolboys.
It all started this evening when her Twitter account announced the release of 300 schoolboys held in Boko Haram captivity.
Nigerians took to the platform to hail the rescue by security operatives.
However, the Diapora Commission Chairman has now distanced herself from the tweet saying that her account was hacked.
She had made the announcement, few hours after a video of Boko Haram Commander, Abubakar Shekau, circulated across the internet, confirming the capture of the over 300 boys.
Dabiri-Erewa announced that her account was hacked and she had retrieved it and changed her passwords. “Pls don’t credit any post on katsina boys to my Twitter handle. I lost control of my handle in the last couple of minutes, along with my Instagram. I have recovered and changed my password.”
The incident has brought a deluge of attacks from social media users who urged her to apologize over the fake news.
