NYSC Latest News: FG COMMITTED TO RAISING A CROP OF YOUTH ENTREPRENEURS
The Honourable Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Mr Sunday Dare has assured the youth population in the country of Federal Government’s commitment towards harnessing their creative and innovative ideas in order to give them opportunity to be youth entrepreneurs and wealth creators.
The Minister who gave this assurance during an interview in his office also expressed gratitude to President Muhammadu Buhari for the upward review of Corps Members’ monthly allowance to Thirty-Three Thousand Naira; which is above the national minimum wage.
He further stated that the Federal Government recently earmarked Seventy Five Billion Naira under the National Youth Investment Fund (NYIF) as a strategic platform where every Nigerian youth is qualified to access the fund as a lifeline towards wealth creation and self empowerment.
He urged the youths to maximally utilise this opportunity while he expressed optimism that the fund would create positive multiplier effects in the national economy.
Mr Sunday Dare also expressed joy with the re-opening of NYSC Orientation Camps nationwide under strict observance of COVID-19 safety protocols. He equally noted that the Orientation experience will afford Corps Members the rare opportunity of creating network of enduring friendships, share valuable ideas about nation building and be exposed to various programmes aimed at inculcating in them the spirit of self reliance.
The Minister commended the NYSC Director General, Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim for his focus on expanding the scope of the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme, as well as increasing the visibility and relevance of the Scheme in national development agenda.
