The Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, on Tuesday formally informed the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), of his intention to seek a second term in office on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress.
The governor also presented his Expression of Interest form to the President at a meeting held inside the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
At the end of the meeting, Akeredolu told State House correspondents that he was sure of victory in the forthcoming primary and the governorship election.
He said, “When I tell you that I am sure (of victory), my confidence is in God Almighty.
“I am not aware of that policy but if it is the policy of the party, fair enough, we are good to go in any form of primary.
“That is why you see our people, they say it openly that direct or indirect, Aketi is a goal. Whichever one you want to adopt, direct or indirect, Aketi is a goal, we will win whichever one.”
Akeredolu said having obtained the expression of interest and nomination forms of his party, he decided to let the President know that he would be seeking re-election.
