Ondo Poll: It Will Not Be Easy, But I Will Win –Gov Akeredolu
Rotimi Akeredolu

As the countdown to the October 10 governorship election in Ondo State peaks, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu has expressed optimism of coming out victorious in what he anticipates to be a difficult contest.

Akeredolu, who described his main challenger, Eyitayo Jegede of the the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as “a friend, colleague and member of the inner bar”, also expressed hope the campaign and election proper to be violence free.

The governor, who was at the APC national secretariat on Monday to answer to questions arising from the Ondo APC governorship primary he won, however, did not have kind words for his estranged Deputy, Agboola Ajayi, whom he urged to deploy his famed popularity at the disposal of the PDP candidate in the coming poll.

Akeredolu described Ajayi’s return to the opposition PDP as good riddance to bad rubbish, maintaining the deputy governor has no electoral value and would be defeated in his local government area in the election.

For me, the deputy leaving the APC to return to the PDP is good radiance to bad rubbish. We thought we could accommodate him at the APC but since he returned to where he truly belongs, it is all well and good. I always wish people the best I can.

“From what I have been told, he has lost the ticket and I pray he won’t jump to another place but if he does, all well and good. However, for his own sake and as a big brother, I will advise him to stay with Jegede, support him very well.
