The Nigeria Police Command in Adamawa State has nabbed one suspected car snatcher and recovered a Toyota Corolla car allegedly snatched in Ebonyi State.
The suspect, 38-year-old Mohammed Sani, allegedly stole the car, a 2004 model of Toyota Corolla, with registration number UGB 408 LQ, from the Ebonyi State capital, Abakaliki.
A press statement released on Sunday by the command’s Spokesman, DSP Suleiman Nguroje, said the police got onto the suspect and the car as he brought the car to Adamawa State to sell it.
Nguroje said following an intelligence report, police operatives attached to the Command’s Intelligence Bureau arrested the suspect and recovered the Toyota Corolla.
“The suspect was caught after he robbed one Mr. Adams M S of Abakaliki, Ebonyi State and ran to Adamawa to dispose of it,” the Adamawa State police image maker said.
The statement said some other valuables were also recovered from the suspect.
“Immediately the report got to the police, investigation commenced and it led to the arrest of the suspect and recovery of the Toyota Corolla X and other valuables,” Nguroje said.
According to him, the state Commissioner of Police CP Olugbenga Adeyanju, has warned members of the public to desist from buying cars and other valuables from roadside vendors.
