Mary Katambi, one of the 276 girls kidnapped by Boko Haram in 2014, has recently graduated from the American University of Nigeria with a degree in accounting (AUN).
Recall that the Boko Haram insurgents invaded the Government Girls Secondary School (GGSS) in Chibok, Borno state, in April 2014 and kidnapped the female students. Mary was one of the fortunate few who managed to flee the sect’s clutches.
Atiku Abubakar, the Former Vice President and founder of the University disclosed the development on his social media platforms while sharing photos of Mary at the graduation ceremony. He expressed how proud he was of Mary Katambi after she was released from captivity after seven years.
Sharing photos of himself, May and the President of African Development Bank, Akinwunmi Adesina, Atiku wrote;
“Mary Katambi, I’m proud that seven years after your release from Boko Haram captivity, you’ve beaten the odds to graduate with a degree in accounting from American University of Nigeria. The best years are still ahead of you,”

The governor claimed that the Buhari administration has achieved significant progress in strengthening road, rail, aviation, and electricity infrastructure, as well as a variety of interventions aimed at addressing the country’s social, economic, and security concerns.
