Nollywood actress, Iyabo Ojo has cautioned her colleagues in the movie industry who seems to be defending embattled actor, Baba Ijesha.
The actor as been in the news lately after is revealed that he has allegedly assaulted of a 14-year-old girl sexually.
Taking to his verified social media handle on Instagram, Iyabo stated that people defending rapists is the main reason why many girls don’t come out to share their ordeals.
She also used the opportunity to call on the public to cut down the rate at which the news is going viral.
Making the post, she wrote;
“please let’s be mindful in my industry
….. this is a very sensitive issue & we should all remember that a 14years old child is involved……. she is watching the Internet, if you can’t support or help her don’t hurt her the more…. Thank You”

Popular Nigerian actor, Olarenwaju James who is known in the Nollywood movie industry as Baba Ijesha was arrested by the Lagos State Police Command.
This was disclosed in a statement released by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi on April 21.
According to the report, on April 19, 2021, a girl named Princess Adekola Adekanya reported the case of defilement at the Sabo Police Station and was transferred to the Gender Unit of the state CID for further investigation.
The report further revealed that the suspect, Baba Ijesha confessed to defiling the teenager as there was CCTV footage to support the accusation.
The statement released by the police reads;
“The Lagos State Police Command has arrested one Olarenwaju James ‘male’ 48, aka Baba Ijesha, popular Nollywood actor for defiling a minor
The case of defilement was reported on 19th April, 2021 by one Princess Adekola Adekanya ‘female’ at Sabo Police Station and transferred to the Gender Unit of the State CID, Panti, Yaba Lagos for proper investigation
Based on preliminary findings, the suspect started sexually assaulting the victim, 14 years, since she was seven years old. The suspect confessed to the crime and was also captured by a CCTV camera in the house of the complainant.
The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, CP Hakeem Odumosu, has ordered for proper investigation as he promised to do justice in the matter.”
