Nigerian Grammy award-winning artiste, Wizkid has been nominated for the prestigious “Rest Of Africa” award at the forthcoming South African Music Awards (SAMA27).
Organizers of the 27th Annual South African Music Awards (SAMA) ceremony have nominated Wizkid‘s Made In Lagos album in the “Rest Of Africa” category. The album which has 14 songs is the singer’s fourth studio (and second major label) album.
It was released on October 30, 2020, by Starboy Entertainment and RCA Records. The album has now spent 27 weeks on the Billboard world albums chart. It is the longest-charting African album. He is in stiff competition with his countryman, Davido who is also nominated in the same category.
Recall the two are not the best of friends as Davido stated in an interview that Wizkid together with some industry players are hating on him. His album, “A Better Time” was nominated for the award. He won the award last year with his “A Good Time” album and hopes to do it twice in a row this year.
Other musicians whose albums were nominated include Buffalo Souljah (Unity Album), Sauti Sol (Midnight Train), Berita (Songs In The Key Of Love). This is MIL’s first-ever nomination at an award show and Wizkid FC is hopeful of bringing it home.
