Youth Empowerment: Winners, Participants Awarded At FASU Essay Writing Competition

The Federation of Ayedire Students’ Union, FASU, whose headquarters is in Ileogbo, Ayedire Local Government Area, State of Osun, on Saturday 10th of July, 2021 held a public lecture on the topic “Empowering young business minds” and awarded the winners of her essay writing competition.

The program was attended by prominent personalities, in the state, many to mention but few are; Professor Oguntola Jeleel Alamu, the Guest Lecturer of the day, Mr. Adewale Ajijola who represented Dr. Ademola Bayonle (DAB),
Mr. Seyi who is the DAB Osun South coordinator, Miss Folake Taiwo who is the DAB Osun West coordinator, Mr. Akinbooye who represented the Chairman of the day, Justice Falola. Comrade Ashim who represented Honourable Kabirat Adeleke.

Mr. Akinbooye declared the event open in his welcome address.

The event was highly secured as there were security operatives at the program. There were 12 officers, Eight and six officers from the civil defence and the Department of State security services respectively.

Comrade Tiamiyu Hussain Adedeji, the Global President of FASU, enjoined the students to keep participating in the activities of the union (FASU). He also urged the students to seek the development of the union by being active agents of positive changes. However, he charged the populace to support FASU financially as the union was being run on a zero account (no money in the purse of FASU). He said it was because no funds was left down by the previous administration he succeeded.

Professor Oguntola delivered the lecture and rounded off his speech by telling the audience his own personal life story so that they could learn from it. He advised the students to work hard and smart.
In his cool and calm voice, ” there is nothing wrong if you carry results full of distinction to NCE so long you have the intention to become a teacher” he said.

Mr. Adewale Ajijola delivered the second lecture.

Mr. Oyesiji Sheriff the CEO of OSAS BRANDS asked a question from one of the speakers, Professor Oguntola Jeleel Alamu.

The winners of the tertiary institutions essay writing competition are; Akinbayo Sodiq Opeyemi a student of the Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta (FUNAAB) who won the first position with 33 points, Akande Taiwo from Federal University Oye Ekiti (FUOYE) who won the second position with 31 points and Busari Saheed Abiodun from Ekiti State University (EKSU) won the third position with 30 points.

For the secondary school essay writing competition, Omoniyi Oluwajoba from Community High school, Oluponna, who won the first position with 26 points, Adeyemi Adedoyin from Luther Kings College, Ileogbo, who won the second position with 24 points and Alimi Fatia from Royal Ambassadors International College, Ileogbo, who wo the third position with 23 points.
