Reports from Imo State indicate that the Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, Mr Chiji Collins, has been impeached.
His impeachment comes after some allegations of financial impropriety, high handedness, and gross misconduct were levelled against him.
The report by Channels TV stated that he was removed from office by the lawmakers on today during a plenary at the legislative chamber of the Assembly complex and it was backed by 19 out of the 27 members of the House.
After his impeachment, Mr Paul Emeziem from Onuimo Local Government Area has been elected as the new Speaker of the House.
