Eid ul Fitr: Ogah, Ikpeazu task Muslims on fervent prayers to subdue Nigeria's challenges

Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development, Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah, has urged Muslim faithful to fervently pray for Nigeria and it’s leaders, to surmount the myriads of security and health challenges currently threatening the unity and peaceful coexistence of the country.

Ogah, who was the 2019 Governorship Candidate of the All Progressives Congress(APC) in Abia State, gave the charge on Sunday, in his message to mark the 2020 celebration of the Eid-el-fitr.

This is even as Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu assured the Muslim Community in the state that his administration will continue to provide the enabling environment for all citizens to pursue their lawful endeavors and practice their faith without hindrance.

In a goodwill message made available to newsmen in Umuahia, by his Chief Press Secretary, Onyebuchi Ememanka, the Governor urged Muslim faithful to see this season of the Eid Fitr celebration as a period of sacrifice and spiritual renewal, as well as using the lessons of the Ramadan as inspiration for peaceful co-existence with others.

However, Ogah further said in the statement,

“As we celebrate this year’s Eid-el-Fitr, we must remember that the current global health situation has changed the way we do things. Even so, we must continue to offer prayers to God even as we sustain all health protocols in our effort to mitigate the COVID-19 pandemic”.

The Minister congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari and millions of Muslim faithful on the celebration of Eld-el-Fitr, enjoining them to pay particular heed to the reinforced directive of the Sultan of Sokoto on the Eid celebration, while also carrying on with the dictates of the Holy Prophet Mohammed (SAW) as embodied in the Holy Quran.

Parts of the message stated partly, “Once again, it is that time when the Muslim Faithful gather to engage in the occasion of ending the period of Ramadan. Within this period, as a result of prevailing circumstances, we are offered the opportunity to reflect on the blessings of God almighty.

“It is my utmost desire that the blessings of Allah (SWT) shall remain upon the country and may we continually seek to advance the course of peace, togetherness and prosperity for our country, Nigeria, and for my home state, Abia.

“May you have a beautiful Sallah celebration and may the blessings that emanate from this period of fasting and holiness unto Allah (SWT) provide us all with increasing happiness, togetherness, and progress”.
